The Barclays Cup Tri-Match was launched by Barclays PLC, the PGA TOUR and TFT Metropolitan New York to give participants in The First Tee programme the opportunity to compete and meet their peers from other venues. The competition is a multi-format match play where players are awarded points based on their golf play as well as on an integrated life skills portion. Teams consist of eight boys and four girls between the ages of 12 and 19. The 2009 event is being staged in Plainfield Country Club, New Jersey from August 21st - 25th. The Barclays Cup Tri-Match in 2008 was a great success for the Irish team members, their families and friends.
