AIDAN LAWLESS RIP

All our members were shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of our Junior Officer Aidan Lawless in a traffic accident near Limerick on Sunday evening last the 4th of Oct. Aidan's energy and enthusiasm as Junior Officer of the club will be hard to replace. It was through his guidance and leadership that junior golf at the club is in such a healthy state. Aidan had a great way with all the kids and some of the best golf of the week could be seen on Saturdays as the kids played under the watchful eye of the man himself. Not only was he a favourite with the kids but also with his many friends and golfing buddies especially his regular playing partners Mark, Michael and Aidan. His big smile, jolly laugh, packet of Major, and as he'd say himself, "his quick pint" in the Halfway on his way home, will be sadly missed by everyone at Slievenamon. Our deepest sympathy to his wife Kathleen, daughter Rachel and son Aidan Jnr.
THE GLENNS TROPHY WINNERS
Congratulations to Mary Comerford, Kathleen Shanley, Ann Delahunty and Margaret Comerford who won “The Glenns Trophy” Competition at Birr Golf Club on the 7th October 2009. The Ladies from Slievenamon showed great composure and resolve in beating off very stiff competition from 29 other Clubs to bring home the laurels. This result represents the first major competition win for the Slievenamon Ladies Club and was celebrated by a reception on Saturday evening at the Clubhouse. It was indeed an excellent performance from all the ladies concerned.
